Free Premier League Tips – Under/Over 2.5 Goals

We could be in for a genuine Premier League title race involving more than two clubs for the first time since the mid-1980’s. Although, we did say this last year after Chelsea had been crowned European Champions and Man United had wrestled the title back from their Sky Blue neighbours.

This year does feel different though; no Alec Ferguson at Old Trafford, the return of Mourinho and the lavish spending of Man City should make for a highly competitive top end of the table. The fourth team at this feast of football has traditionally been Arsenal, but some feel Tottenham may eclipse them this season after some very smart transfer business from Andre Villas Boas.

The Spurs Boss and his astute Chairman, Daniel Levy, have brought in some accomplished footballers for relatively moderate fees – Roberto Soldado, a proven goalscorer, Paulinho, a fine box to box Brazilian international midfielder, and the promising Belgian left winger, Nacer Chadli. It’s clever business because even if Gareth Bale goes to Real Madrid, Spurs have already strengthened their squad, whereas trying to buy players after Bale leaves for £100m would see clubs hiking up their prices because of Tottenham’s improved bank balance.

Chadli should replace the injured Welshman when Spurs make the short trip to Selhurst Park to face a Crystal Palace team who are back in the big time after an 8 year stay in the Championship. Sunday’s game should be a lively one as Palace manager Ian Holloway can only construct positive, attacking teams. He knows Palace must show their fans they can compete against the best and score goals on home soil, as home form is the key to any promoted side’s chance of survival.

Spurs have pace, skill and flair in all area’s of the pitch and it will be fascinating to see how their new look midfield of Sandro, Dembele and Paulinho gel together with the dynamic threat of Lennon, Chadli and Soldado up front. You have to say, if Bale stays in North West London for this campaign, Spurs could be realistic title challengers. And I would say they’ll have too much for Palace to deal with defensively this weekend, and we’ll see Over 2.5 goals scored at 1.87 Euro odds or 87/100.

Manchester City open their campaign at home to Newcastle on Monday evening in what will be Manuel Pellegrini’s first competitive game in charge of the Sky Blues. The experienced Chilean manager has excited the blue half of Manchester by assembling, with the aid of director of football Txiki Begiristain, a quartet of highly skilful new signings who will light up the Premier League this season. The tricky winger, Jesus Navas and his now ex-Seville colleague and hit-man, Alvaro Negredo, will ply their trade alongside the enigmatic and versatile Montenegrin, Stefan Jovetic and the highly rated Brazilian midfield General, Fernandinho.

These acquisition’s will fit perfectly into the elegant and stylish Pellegrini mode of playing, in what could be potentially described as the most talented squad in all of European football. The mouth-watering combination of Yaya Toure and Fernandinho in midfield will be an excellent base for the creative players listed above, plus David Silva and Sergio Aguero, to flourish.

The previous 3 encounters between these clubs at the Ethiad Stadium have ended in Over 2.5 goals being scored and I would expect the same scenario again on Monday night at 1.66 Euro odds or 33/50.
